Buried deep into the granite piers supporting the Victorian Holborn Viaduct in London’s bustling city centre, you’ll find the offices of Amazon Web Services (AWS), the global tech giant that runs and manages a third of the cloud computing services around the world. It’s in this setting, on Friday 8th December that a selection of delegates from AWS met in-person with members from their new partner, technology-enabled language, content, and intellectual property (IP) services provider RWS, to christen a new alliance that has already been making headlines in the tech industry.

For both RWS and AWS, this event was more than just an opportunity to share ideas, it presented a way to accelerate and enhance the shared innovations both organizations are working on together to improve the lives of content and linguistic professionals worldwide. With their new strategic collaboration agreement, both RWS and AWS are committed to the rapid prototyping and production of trustable AI applications in a way that is more innovative, cost effective, and sustainable.

The event kicked off with keynote speakers Paddy Fitzpatrick, Head of ISV in the UK at AWS, and Thomas Labarthe, President of Language Services and Technology at RWS. What was evident in both speeches was a shared drive to boost research and development to create the most innovative solutions to the challenges of the here and now, as well as of the future. Already, RWS and AWS are working jointly on 60 new POCs and 25 new product features that could radically change the way people work and interact.

This was followed by a short presentation demonstrating how this innovative collaboration with AWS is shaping RWS’ content management business, with their (C)CMS product(s) Tridion (Docs and Sites) being powered by AWS technology. As the market leader in the content management space, the Tridion team are under enormous pressure to maintain the standard customers expect of their product, as well as be at the forefront of new, emerging technologies and trends. With AWS, Tridion gains a clear advantage, where not only their security, scalability and performance requirements are met, but they also benefit from AWS’ ground-breaking AI services, Amazon SageMaker and Amazon Bedrock.

What is Amazon SageMaker and Amazon Bedrock?

Amazon SageMaker is a fully managed service that enables customers to prepare data and build, train, and deploy Machine Learning (ML) models for any use case with fully managed infrastructure, tools, and workflows, including no-code offerings for business analysts.

With Amazon SageMaker:
  • Data scientists can easily prepare data, and build, train, and deploy ML models with SageMaker Studio
  • ML engineers can deploy and manage models at scale with SageMaker MLOps
  • Business analysts can make ML predictions using a visual interface with SageMaker Canvas
Amazon Bedrock provides a range of high-performing foundation models from top AI companies like AI21 Labs, Anthropic, Cohere, Meta, Stability AI, and Amazon through one API. It includes essential tools for developing generative AI applications, with a focus on simplicity, privacy, and security.

With Amazon Bedrock, you can:

Experiment with top foundation models (FMs) easily, customize models privately using fine-tuning and retrieval augmented generation (RAG) and create managed agents for complex tasks like:
  • Booking travel
  • Processing insurance claims
  • Creating ad campaigns
  • Managing inventory
  • Achieve all these without writing any code.
Amazon Bedrock is serverless, so there's no need to manage infrastructure. It allows integration and deployment of generative AI with existing AWS services.

How is Tridion using Amazon’s AI services?

Tridion has harnessed the power of Amazon's AI services to revolutionize its content management and language solutions. By incorporating Amazon Sagemaker, Tridion provides language-specific embeddings models, enhancing its semantic recommendation capabilities. This tool is scalable and integrates seamlessly with Amazon OpenSearch's ML capabilities, ensuring that individual customer needs are met efficiently. Furthermore, Tridion utilizes Amazon Bedrock's Large Language Models (LLMs) to support innovative features like Trustable Chat and Content Assistant. These capabilities are further enriched by hybrid user-tagged metadata and semantic recommendations. Amazon Bedrock, therefore, plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality natural language-based search and authoring assistance, setting new standards in the industry for user experience and efficiency.
