A free online machine translation post-editing (MTPE) certification is now available to help linguists and project managers broaden their knowledge of the latest advances in the technology.
The course focuses on eight areas to help professionals quickly become experts in post-editing, and advises how the latest thinking and approaches can be applied to their daily roles. The course covers everything from the history of MT, to developing a content strategy and testing and evaluating the quality of MT output. It also explores how to train gender neutral models, and how to address different MT behaviours.
“The pace at which MT has evolved in recent years has made post-editing an indispensable skill for translators,” explains Andrea Stevens, Principal Linguistic AI Consultant at RWS. “Our course covers the theoretical, practical and technical side of post-editing, arming practitioners with the knowledge they need to quickly understand – and apply – the latest advances and approaches to their projects.”
The course has been developed by RWS’s AI consultancy team with the support of the Language Weaver research and development team. RWS’s Language Weaver research and development team continue to push the boundaries of machine translation research. Over the past 15 years the team has published more than 200 peer-reviewed scientific papers and acquired 91 patents. Language Weaver is RWS’s highly secure, adaptable machine translation platform that processes and instantly translates large volumes of content across 3,000+ language combinations.
The course takes approximately one hour and is available in bite-sized sessions. After successful completion of the course, students will be awarded the certification. If you would like to take the course, please visit Post-Editing Machine Translation Training.
